Walmart on-line sells various rails that tuck under the mattress. Maybe one of them would the right size.

When i needed to do this, i used a wooden bunk ladder. I drill two 1" holes in the ladders rails and inserted a short length of pipe. I drilled a second set of holes near the edge of the fold down bunk to accept the pipes. The ladder was then horizontal and acted as a bedrail.
