If the hitch came off the ball, the owner must have had a truck he felt didn't need a WHD hitch. I know with the downward tension my Equal-I-zer 4-way bars put on the receiver ball it would take one heck of a bounce to lift tongue off the ball. I think of my Equal-I-zer hitch as an extra bit of protection.
