We have both the roof mounted dome that we had added after taking possession of the RV and more recently a portable G2 dome with 50 feet of supplied cable. We have used both during the course of a season. If I had to choose one I would pick the G2 portable unit which can be moved around to get a clear view thru the trees when necessary.
You can temporarily set it on the roof if you will be in one place for awhile to minimize the chance of it walking away.
