This says exactly what I would have. Perfect. It helps get the angle past the trees. Dish Pointer Pro looks like what I have been looking for. I'll try it out on our next camping trip.

With my Dish tailgater, I just place the carry handle facing north, and the tailgater does the rest. How is yours different ? ( I have the one that looks like darth vader ).

The good news is that I have just purchased a phone with a sensor magnet so that I can now install a compass and a sat finder app. The phone is an Android. I need an app that shows the location of the satellites in the sky. I use a Tailgater antenna and need to know if the placement is looking at the Dish satellites. Since I don't use a dish I don't need to know the elevation and azimuth.

I use compass level app for that, and to level my Anser antenna. Also keep a regular, old fashioned compass handy in my truck.

Satellite AR works for me with dishnet and android.

TV Antenna Helper FREE - as long as you know your NSEW, you can point in the general area using the data on this application.

I just determined that my Moto E 2nd Gen Android doesn't have the magnetics for a compass, which is required for the satellite app. URGH!!! Back to using the manual compass.
