It served me well. 178,000Km on it (111,000 miles), sold it for $25,000 (Cdn). Delivering it to the new owner tomorrow. Just so I have something to compare to, we went and drug the 5er out of storage tonight since I'm truckless for a week or so. The 3500 SRW (equipped with Torklift Stable Loads on the rear overloads) settled 1.5" with the 5er attached. When I get the new 2500, I will compare.

I think that the 2500 should settle about 3" without the overload springs. Just a guess though. The springs settle a certain amount depending on it's weight per inch of travel. You certainly do not want springs that do not deflect. The engineering problem is they want them to deflect a short amount, then hold strong. However I don't ever recommend a 2500 series with a fifth wheel. If yours is smaller and light, it should be fine. Expecially with the lighter gas engine, it will lower your curb weight and increase your Gross Cargo Rating.Fred.

Surprising as it is, the 2500 gasser has more front and rear GAWR, a higher max trailer rating, higher GCWR, and more payload than the diesel 3500 SRW it's replacing. The only rating that the 3500 SRW has/had an advantage was GVWR. It was 10,100# and the new 2500 is 10,000#.I know it will be a different towing experience (higher RPMs and lower mpg), but I am willing to make that exchange based on how much I tow vs. how much it gets used as the family car.Oh, and the 5er is a 37.5' unit with 3 slides. :)

The Trailhawk has been great! It was a little piggy on fuel for the first 1000 miles - but the temps were -35* darn near every day then too.

In good weather (temps in the 50s F) on a recent highway trip it did 25 mpg US at the 68 mph speed limit (9.5L/100Km). It gets about 20 mpg doing 50-50 city hwy commute.

Love the heated seats and steering wheel, and the many other tech features. The 4wd system is top notch as well.

Nice truck you sold (and getting). I am going to find out what my 5er weighs this weekend and find out whether I'm going 3/4 or SRW or to a dually... If I have to go dually, I'm hunting out a Dodge Megacab. If SRW, I'll look for a GM... Either way, a 06 or newer with six digits on the clock I'm sure...

I just picked up a new Ford brochure...just for fun. I was surprised that in some cases the F250 has better capacity numbers than the F 350. Now granted, you can get a higher payload option. In one case, the 350 only carries 50 more lbs.
