Seafoam

Has any one used seaform to clean out the engine other than pouring it into the gas tank. Have seen several videos on You tube but am still leery about trying to clean out the motor this way. I don't even know if my 02 6.0 chevy v 8 has a throttle body or just injectors.
  • I use seafoam on my Honda Generator. Make it run smooth and stop the cycling idle. Also use it on my Coleman white gas lanterns. Clean thing out to run better.
  • I had an Isuzu Rodeo with a GM 3.2 engine that had small oil flowback holes. When carbon would build up, oil couldn't flow back into the sump and would get burned off, consuming a lot of oil

I researched and someone suggested using the hose for the brake booster to sip the liquid (or spray from the aerosol can) into the hose. This apparently brings the Seafoam directly into the intake plenum and cleans the inside. I don't understand how it worked, but when I did that before every oil change my oil consumption went from about 1.5 quarts every 3,000 miles to no noticeable oil consumption at all.

It has injectors and a throttle. I have used it in my 02 to get rid of the carbon build up. Worked pretty good. When I got my truck it had not been used much and only at low speed, so it had a bunch of carbon. Helped quiet it down and got rid of detonation caused by it.

I poured it right down the braked booster line into the engine.

Did the same with my sons high mile 2000 Chevy Impala.
