I remember watching that Stupid TV Show Shipping Wars and seeing a set of Dual Wheels come off and cross 4 lanes of traffic. It was a Ram driving by the Young Couple.
So, back in the 70/80's I used to build Rear ends. While I never had one fail on me, My Mother had a Brand New Chevy Monza that had a C-Clip come out and destroyed the rear end.
I really think that now a days, with all of the Lawyers around, that these Manufacturers have some fudge factor built into the specs to make sure that they do not have a bunch of wheels running down the highway all by themselves.
