Thanks, I was looking for that to post. As I said before, as you can see by the links I posted I get into situations in which you don't want any breakage. If I can reduce the chance of breakage, I will go that route. It was my opinion that going with a tapered bearing I reduce running into problems.
It has been pointed out to me that the Tundra doesn't use the c clip. I don't know about the Dodge or GM 1/2 tons yet.
Nothing posted on this topic has led me to believe that the c clip is acceptable. In fact it has actually made me reconsider the acceptability of a tapered bearing semi floater.
I may decide that only a full floater will meet my needs.
