In summary: Full floaters are better then semi-floaters, exactly as the OP stated in his opening comment. Also, most of have never, and will never, see a wheel and axle out of a modern American made pickup come rolling down the Interstate at them. Some things, like hitch pins, bear a huge responsibility, but seldom fail.
