Someone said I was refusing to post it - not so. I just didn't know how. Where are you getting 6700 lb????That makes no sense, with a GVWR of 7300 lb - TV of 6700 lb, you could not even put 4 good-sized people in that Sequoia. I looked up the Sequoia 2015 brochure. This is what it says (numbers change a little with 4WD)curb wt = 5730GVWR = 7100This leaves 1370 for cargo, including people. Subtract the trailer tongue wt leaves 630 lb for cargo in the Sequoia, including people. I can assure you that there is a large margin in that number.GCWR (gross combined weight rating) is 13,600. With the Sequoia fully loaded plus trailer, you are at 7100 + 5500 = 12600Towing capacity of the Sequoia is 7400 lb, you are well below that.So you are well within the limits in the brochure, and again I can assure you that there are generous margins in those numbers. You will be fine with a good weight-distributing/sway control hitch like the Equalizer. THIS IS THE BROCHURE I FOUND.If you have a different year, just google "20xx Sequoia weights and capacities" and you will find the right info.I just saw that you have a 2010, so check for info on it. I expect the numbers will be very similar.

You should be able to find that information in your owners manual. I also think you're within your limits HOWEVER if I recall correctly from when I was shopping for a TV there are a few other things you should consider. According to Toyota:1) 20" wheels will decrease your towing capacity by 500 lbs. over 18" wheels2) the powered seat option (in seats other than the driver's) decreases your capacity by another 500 lbs. Since you have the Limited model there is a good chance you have one or both options on your Sequoia. In any case, I'd start by taking your Sequoia to a scale and get an accurate weight. Payload is the "weak link" in what is otherwise a fine tow vehicle. Our TT is around 6,000 lbs loaded for a trip. Between the tongue weight and our kids (when they were still traveling with us) we were right on the GVWR.

We got the TV weight by subtracting the TT weight from the total weight.According to the owner's manual, with the tow package, we can tow 9xxx# - I think it's 9500 or 9600. We have 18" wheels and a power passenger seat.It's unlikely that we will drive with other people in the car, and we probably won't travel with more than a few pounds of canned food, since we don't use them much.

Good, that is the most important label to look for when picking out a tow vehicle. Our Suburban has 2305 pounds so no problems there, and I would not tow an 8,000lb trailer with this 3/4 ton burb. I had 2 accidents in one summer towing, going 20mph in a 35mph or even 35mph in a 50mph zone. Its scary out there, and idiots abound. Panic brakes occur front, or someone pulls out and you are stopping 12,000lbs of weight. Stay far back, avoid highways with traffic lights, and run the interstates outside of prime commuting hours.

I keep looking at the sticker and not seeing anything that says either "payload" or "1230." What am I missing?

Is it sinking in yet?

If trailer has a tongue weight of 800lbs with the wdhhitch.

Truck payload 1230 - tongue wt/wdh 800 = 430lbs ( maximum amount of passengers/gear).

you are ok and can carry one passenger, small dog and a small cooler.

Yup, right there with you and no way would I tow something even close to that heavy with our Sequoia...besides the fact that 9100 lbs and 12XX lbs payload never seems to "workout" for anything real world.

A TT at below 6500 lbs should be a very good fit for the Sequoia. Ours weighs between 8000 - 8500 lbs and I also now will load a 650 lba ATV in my truck bed so a 1 ton was a good fit for what I am doing.

I leave everything in the TT except people. We also have a ProPride hitch since the drive was no fun. I try to leave a lot of stuff on top of the wheels and our tongue weight is around 10% (though you shouldn't do that with a regular hitch). We also changed our tires (still P tires but higher pressure and weight rating).

If I had to do it again I'd start with a 2500 truck (though keeping the ProPride).

Wow, your axles are rated higher than a max tow F150. That's pretty cool. Your truck should be plenty capable for your chosen TT.
