Sewer hook-up with 3 tanks & 2 drain connections

I am getting tired of the hassle of moving the rig between dumping the front grey water tank and the rear black and grey tanks on my Evergreen Everlite S29FK. Also I expect to be staying in one place with full hook-ups for a couple of weeks next month, so I'd like to minimize the work of draining tanks as they fill up. The kitchen grey water drain is about 15' from the main grey and black water drain.

Online there seem to be two approaches, each with its own set of fittings. One is a special drain cap with a garden hose fitting used to drain grey water thru a garden hose into a specialized sewer elbow. The other is a 3 inch wye fitted to connect to our standard sewer hose 'lug & bayonet' connectors, one from the front tank and another from the rear.

Has anybody had experience with solving this challenge? I'd love to get your recommendations.

  • WE also have 2 dumps, the kitchen is in the back & never gets full even on a week stay. So I just move the waste hose at the end of our trip. I do if possible to park so my tires are in line with the dump at the site or dump station that way I don't have to move the trailer and can get at both (20' hose)
  • My Creekside has 2 connections.I just got a 'y' from the RV place with the bayonet connections. Not in love with it but it works ok.
  • DW can fill a grey tank in a New York minute! Can't comprehend the meaning of conservation of water. No concept at all of a "Navy shower". I just stay quiet and bite my tongue. JMHO
  • I personally like the 3" sewer hoses with the 'Y' connection......nothing like the good ole whoosh of waste water going thru a 3" hose to evacuate the tanks AND carry any stuff with it (poop/TP.......FOOD particles).

Garden hose just doesn't provide that.
  • I am at a seasonal site. My rear tank is for kitchen only and fills slowly. I have a sewer outlet cap with a garden hose fitting on rear Grey tank. When time to dump it (once per week) I simply put the Grey hose into sewer opening and pull the valve. No biggie.
  • I agree multiple tanks with multiple outlets are a pain in the... However you need to consider your usage.
I hook my sewer hose to the front connection which takes care of main bath shower and toilet.
My 40 gallon black will last at least a week if not more without dumping.
My rear connection is for kitchen sink and rear 1/2 bath. For the most part the rear grey fills very slowly. It is 40 gallons and it takes a long time to fill it with just the kitchen and rear bath sink going into it.
I basically ignore my rear connection because the rear tanks will not fill up in a week. They may even last 2 weeks. Dishwashing and washing hands does not generate 40 gallons of grey water.
I simply monitor my front connection and dump grey as required. At the end of the trip I move the same hose and empty rear tanks. I have found its simpler and easier to just use one hose. There is no need to get out a second hose, wye connection and other fittings to dump resar tanks because for the most part they won't need to be dumped until the trip is over. At which point I just use the hose that is attached to the front connection that is already out.
After completely dumping front tanks I move hose to rear connection and dump rear tanks.
If I were set up for a month or more maybe I'd take a different approach but for a week or 2 one hose works fine.
In my case the tanks don't fill at the same rate so I don't set up additional hose and fittings to dump tanks that will not require dumping until the end of the trip. Both connections do not need/require a dedicated sewer hose. One hose can easily serve both connections in many cases.
I try to spend less on set up and breaking time and more time relaxing away from the rat race.
  • Buddy of mine had that set up and used the "y" fitting you mention. Never had any problems that I'm aware of.
