That's what makes me :h. With such a critical nr. guessing or hoping is not what you want to be doing. I have had one for like 20yrs so I have got my $$$ out of it.

I'm nowhere near the OP to be of any help, but I do agree on the idea of having one of your own....we are TT newbies and I ordered my scale in last month in preparation for the season. But then, I'm also a "tool guy" anyway! The 125 or so bucks is well worth the hassle saved of going to a commercial scale, IMO......

Oh yeah....I would also gladly allow a fellow RV'er to borrow it, possibly with supervision depending on how I judge their ability to use it without putting themselves / others / property at risk of damage / injury / death.

Got the same "no" answer + a blank stare and "why would you want to weigh the tongue??" at a CW. Since this is a CW we overnight at every year between home and FL - and they've always been very accommodating - DH just told the guy never mind and let it be. We have a CAT about a mile from home, but DH just hates the hassle of hooking up, driving around the corner, unhooking, etc. We did weigh on our last trip to FL and were closer than we thought, but we also had all of DS#1 and his equipment with us....would really like a better "everyday" weight, but not badly enough to make the investment in a scale right now. Theres an idea for camping world, offer the ability to weigh your rig. Install scales at every super store and help their customers be safe on the road. pure genius.

Why not you search one on Ebay or amazon. As there are many scales available with different features that you need with budget you have. Or use any floor scaleor bathroom scale that you have in your home.

Yes, this is a good substitute and is what I used to get the tongue weight on my last RV.



I did not use the same ratios as on the link provided because I did my own calculations. I did pre-calculate what the distances to the support points are by back calculation, knowing the max weight on the scale as I did not want to overload my bathroom scale.

I bought my TT from one of the larger dealers in Michigan, and they straight face told me they had no scale ... yea right. I didn't push, but I'm guessing its because they don't want to explain huge discrepancies in the advertised weights and the actual weights.
