10 pages....it's amazing as your questions were answered in the first 8 posts. I really don't understand your issue with running in 5th. I have a F250 with the 6.7 that I normally tow with the cruise on, if I get in hills or a stiff head wind it will shift to 5th. When that happens I lock out 6th and still get within .2 mpg. It's a non-issue, locking out 6th will save your transmission in the long run. If you wanted to pull a trailer you should have bought a diesel or a ecoboost. It's unfortunate that you received some faulty information on turbos blowing up and it has you scared. I promise even if you had a 6.2 or 6.0 gas engine it will still shift in and out of 6th on every incline.
My issues is that no one has given me sound explanation as to why it is doing it. Everyone is giving me advice based on practice they use. They do not explain what is going on and why it is happening.
It is not the inclines I care about. I expect it to shift. It is the flats.
I have seen the damage that gas engines that have turbos get. I do not trust any manufacturer to make a good gas turboed engine.
Diesels turboed? Here, take my money! (but not yet)
