consider the 3/4 ton group. from experience. when we first bought our 33 ft tt it was in the 7200 to 7500lb range loaded to camp for long weekend. i towed it with my 2000 ford f150. it was doable but 4 months ago i bought a 2017 ford f250 super duty. 6.2 gasser. i don't have need for a diesel. will not be moving up to a 12k plus tt or fiver in the future that i see. world of difference with payload capacity, hp, suspension, transmission the whole package. it is very pleasant to drive and tow now. my wife even takes a turn driving on long hauls. when its not towing its a good ride but it rides even smoother towing. gas mileage non towing is in the 18 mpg range. towing is 8 to 9 mpg depending on grades and speeds. i couldn't be happier. i hadn't really wanted to buy a new truck but wife and i both looked at it as a long term investment on the whole rig.
