- PowercordmanExplorerYou should not have to worry about the connections on the ground if it is a 100% molded cord and it is fully connected. Some problems could arise if it is a custom cord (assembly ends).
If you have a surge protector you should be fine.

Power Cord Mfg. - tvman44ExplorerIs it necessary, probably not but I wrap mine with a plastic shopping bag and place on a piece of fire wood to avoid sitting in standing water. :)
- RoyBExplorer III have two sets of 30AMP cables here at the house running across the yard to get to my parked trailer. I do the same as others have suggested here and just make sure the connections laying on the ground are raised up and not be laying in a pool of water after it rains.
One of my connections I put inside one of the snap together plastic lid boxes but it really didnt make any difference. It also is sitting on a wood block to keep off the ground.
The RV SALES LOTs sure have many extension cords all plugged into together all over their lot haha... Quite a maze of power cords to step over when looking at the trailers.
Roy Ken - YardvarkersExplorerBeen camping 37 years. 6 years in 2 different Jayco popups. 1 small one and next a tandem I wish I had back. Then moved up to an 82 Coachmen for 19 fun years. Now we have a 2000 Jayco Eagle 266 FBS and never had any problems with 30 amp extensions. I never add more than 1 extension and it is always a 30 amp and off of standing water as much as possible. Also I use a good surge supressor at the cg hook-up. This is the one I use although I'm sure there are better and cheaper ones:

I also didn't like pulling it in and out of the little port...felt like I was going to wear something out. I got one of the Camco "handle" cables. When I hook up now I just pull the hard wired cable out enough to close the door behind it, then attach the Camco cord to it. That way the connection is well off the ground. Seems to work well.
- Keep the connection out of standing water and you will be fine.

Hi,
I do not bother--but I do put something underneath to raise the connection off the ground.
We do that also. - wildtoadExplorer III have three hooked together, all on the ground. No problems in three years (Rain or Shine).
- pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
I do not bother--but I do put something underneath to raise the connection off the ground.
