I was looking hard at putting my Yamaha rhino in the back of my truck and hauling a camp trailer..I did worry about the 1,000 pounds it would put on the tailgate...So I found these, but went the truck camper route instead to have my Rhino with us.....
Tailgate supports
I don't know the year of his Dodge, guessing 2000+..I was impressed the way it road when he pulled out..Cool looking rig.
I load and unload my Honda Foreman 4 wheeler all the time in my Ford with a pair of HF aluminum ramps so my buddy Tom wanted to borrow the quad to pull a soil drag to do his new front lawn so I said no problem. We set the ramps just like I do with the Ford, he drove the quad up and it promptly bowed the tailgate. I was not impressed. Neither was he. Brand new Silverado with a bowed tailgate.
I take it hunting all the time. Either on a small trailer behind the TC or when it's snow time, in the truck and I stay in a motel. Not into winter camping in a TC. Motels are much better (and warmer).
I see you use HJ's, so do I' All that was available (other than chains and hardware store turnbuckles back in '97 when I bought the truck and my first TC).
I just upgraded to the HJ Quikloads. Haven't had the camper on the truck yet except to fit them but they seem to work just fine. I especially like the one release handle fits all 4 so you only need to carry one handle and the price, about 1/3 of the TL's. Paid 99 bucks for a set of 4 on Flea Bay. I had to saw off the threaded hooks on the adjustment end to fit them but it wasn't a big deal. Very happy with them so far.
Was last fall, still bowed. least it closes, sort of.:R
