Valhalla, yes your correct in that moving the cog back just 6" likely isn't going to affect steering and braking greatly.
However, you basically just baited the other posters by being (purposely?) vague in not providing camper lengths, weights, truck setups etc. Based on what you've provided for info or lack thereof, it either will not be a problem......or it could be a problem.
For instance, I have a "long bed camper" on my shortbed. 8'-9" long in a 6'-4" truck bed. BUT it's the same model that is also a "short Bed camper" minus the extra storage and generator and weight, in the back wings.
If you're talking about supporting a 10'+ long camper in a SB truck then probably not a great idea. Maybe due to c of g maybe due to being to long to adequately support.
To summarize, provide some specifics or y'all can keep arguing your points over generalities.
No setup. While I don't have a specific model in mind yet, I gave sufficient info in the first post to narrow it down:
- 2500lb or less...that pretty much eliminates the 10'+ units.
- I stated that I would be well within axle ratings.
It seems people are jumping to the idea that I will be way over the axle ratings when that was not part of the premise of the question.
