valhalla360, welcome to the forums! I think you unknowingly wandered into the middle of one of the most common flamewar topics we have here, camper weights and truck capacities. Members have been voicing their opinions about this topic likely since this forum first opened. The center of gravity bit is a new twist though so it makes this feel like a fresh topic!
There are basically two camps you are in the middle of. The hard line "never exceed GVWR" crowd and then the "with a few mods and careful planning it can be okay as long as I don't exceed axle ratings" crowd. I suppose there is a third crowd of "haven't really paid attention to it or care about it".
I won't say which is right because that is a matter of personal opinion but I would offer to not worry if a reply rubs you the wrong way or let it keep you away from this forum and all of it's great wealth of knowledge. People are passionate about this topic from their own personal experiences.
In the end, your opinion is what matters because you are the one writing the checks. Well, I suppose if there is Mrs. involved than your opinion is worthless anyway and it's only her's that matters. Pro tip... if it is a Mrs and you got the money but she won't give you permission to buy the truck you actually wanted, take her to an RV show where there are lots of Campers. Show her the Host Mammoth first and go to the camper you were thinking about buying for the truck you have. When she see's the two, her mind will be made up that she wants that fireplace, triple slides and large bathroom and you better buy a truck that can handle it! On the other hand, if your more like me where you run what you brung because the checking account demands it then avoid RV shows with the Mrs. at all costs...
Kidding aside, again, welcome to the forums and good luck with your camper hunt!
