- AnEv942NomadYes, I shortened our 28" to 22 1/2". I cut the ball mount end. After removing the reinforcing ring and chain plate (grind thru welds) cut tubes 5 1/2" and re-welded the ring and plate. Only need to redrill the pin hole. Then cut a few links from chains.
Ours is older 2" truss- - BradWExplorer IIThanks for the reply. I am ordering the 48", but I was just wondering if I wanted to shorten it some later, would that be possible.
I could be wrong, but I believe the extensions are still 2" even though some of the hitches now have 2-1/2" upper receivers.
Thanks again for the response,
bradw - MarcelaExplorerI have and use a 32" extension though I thought I needed a 48" to clear the camper. I put a double over/under extension in it which brings it out to the edge of the camper, the top can be used for a bike and not for towing. Installed an extension in the lower with a step moves it out the needed distance. The step works well and can put a receiver in it if needed for towing.

I think I may be wrong on this. I will post up when it gets here.
bradw - AnEv942NomadNot sure why I mentioned age and size-
I 'assume' even if extension accepts 2 1/2" ball mount, extension is hollow tube- but more to the point the ball mount end is the end to cut.
not the end(s) that insert into super hitch.
But when it arrives should maybe be clear.
Sooo how is the new camper otherwise?
