Should a rubber roof feel soft when walked on?

I just plunked $6000 on a 2002 Franklin ranch 40' fifth wheel. Inside is mint, no water leakage. I know this because when we brought it home, it was not just raining, but pouring so hard my windshield...

Yes, it does sound crazy. Especially when the OP is talking about a roof feeling soft.
