Should Slide Work With 12v Power Only?

Hi folks. I'm new to the forum and have tried searching for the answer to my question to no avail.

We just bought a 2011 Conquest with a slide and the slide works just fine when plugged into shore power but it doesn't do anything at all on 12v power only. It doesn't even make any noise like it's trying to do something. Is this normal or should it work via 12v also?

Thanks for your time.
  • For what it's worth, my new motorhome says to either be plugged into shore power or run the generator. All this says is that it needs a lot of power to operate the slides. Make sure you have good batteries.

All RV's are designed for the basic functions to operate from the battery. Otherwise the trailer would not work when you camp where there is no shore power...

When you are connected to shore power the converter which runs from 120VAC will now provide 12VDC power to operate all of these basic function and also keep your 12VDC battery system charged up.

Here is a basic 30AMP Wiring Configuration block diagram showing what work with what in a typical RV unit...

    Hope this helps...

  • Cable, hydraulic, rack & pinion?
Otherwise yes I believe the slide should run fine on battery alone.

Do the lights and water pump work on just battery? (they should)
  • Mine works on 12V; Check battery and make sure the battery master switch is "ON"

    Thank you.
