shurflo water pump upgrade?

I have the original waterpump in our Bigfoot camper which is a 2088-403-144 2.8gpm and 45psi pump. Its on the way out from the seems of it and id like to get a bit quieter if I could, this one has been noisy from the day we got it.Ive put padding under it to help but if im going to install a new one id imagine in 20yrs theres been some updates.Any ideas on what one? THanks Aaron

  • Our new TT came with the Shureflow 4008. It's a nice pump woth good flow. Noise is not bad at all.
Seems like most of the time noise is more a factor of how the pump was installed.
Rubber mounting and using pipe insulation on any piping that makes contact with any other surface does a lot.
  • Yah, Mine went out and I got a replacement, Shurflo, but learning I need to keep a 'Back up' cause running out of water in the boonies is not fun.

As a backup, I was thinking of a little more powerful one, but hesitant due to pressure flows etc.... so interested in this post too..

I got the same one noted above, but looking for the next level up..

SHURFLO 4008-101-E65 3.0 Revolution Water Pump

Pretty easy to replace, just connect the input/output hoses and the wiring and you're good to go..

But remember, get a back up just in case.

Sometimes, I'm told, it's just the propeller part, not the actual motor parts, but not sure how it all fits in..

    Back up.
    One is NONE
    Two is ONE...
    as they say...

There's also a Tank/pre-filled or something like that.. it goes from pump to a holding/reserve tank and you draw from that. Enough pressure to keep it quiet while drawing but eventually the pumps comes on to fill the holding/reserve tank.. might help a little..
  • Quiet pump will run you over $300, while about $25 can buy you rebuild kit for your old one.
There is not much updates on water pump beside cheaper models.
I used to own 1965 Airstream that had quiet water pump that had leak on connector.
Went to West Marine and they still sell the same exact pump for about $360.
Also several rebuild kits available, so I epoxy the leak and put new rubber in it
