- 4x4ordExplorer III^^^hehe that is not saying much for your HD, but I know it's true.... cruisers feel wonderful in the curves but as far as speed is concerned they can have a hard time keeping up to a logging truck.
- Cummins12V98Explorer IIIPeople familiar with Highway 74 called the "Palms to Pines" highway that heads South from Palm Desert, CA near Palm Springs you will understand what I am about to say. For those who don't simply do a Google Earth.
Wife and I drove up the highway last night to meet a fellow DRV couple for dinner at the famous Paradise Cafe. The road is VERY popular for Sports car and MotorCycle enthusiasts. Looking down it's literally a ribbon with sweeping banked turns.
My DRW handles so well and tracks flat that I was taking the curves at almost the speed of my HD MotorCycle. It's insane how well it handles. - Cummins12V98Explorer III

Don't know how they measure out, never needed or had a lot of interest in a DRW, but the Ram DRW sure looks to be more sleek than the other brands.

Tying to be objective, YES the RAM has some SEXY hips!
The GM is just odd and the Ford used the previous two DRW designs on the current model. - Cummins12V98Explorer IIIrhagfo, if your DRW had the Factory Rear Air the rear would set much lower than your 01.

Love those defenders of the DRW as the ultimate overall vehicle.
Folks, sorry to tell you, but your DRW does not ride as well or better than a luxury car or SUV. Doesn't matter the brand.
And it isn't as easy to park as a car or SUV.
Its a great towing platform undoubtedly. But just like with anything else, there are trade offs. And overall drivability is one of them. I am happy to have my DRW for towing duties. But that (and hunting) are about all I use mine for.
This is a towing forum. It's not surprising that a DRW would be the ultimate overall vehicle. - Bionic_ManExplorerLove those defenders of the DRW as the ultimate overall vehicle.

Jerry - rhagfoExplorer IIII just want to throw this out there to those that think new truck are so much bigger than 15 years ago. This is a side by side size comparison between our 2001 Ram 2500 Quad Cab long bed and our new to us 2016 Ram 3500 DRW long bed.
Front View, the hood is a bit taller.
Front bumpers even this is the length difference.
Yea, the new Ran has big Hips!
This is the one that surprised me! Bed height within 1". - rhagfoExplorer III

I really hate driving my dually if I'm not towing, so I don't. If my truck had to be a daily driver I would probably switch to a SRW truck. Maybe when I'm old and don't tow anymore.
your entitled to your opinion, but just don't understand. why you and others find DRW to be so difficult to drive when not towing. As I have said before it isn't a smart car, but it isn't a class 8 either. I do have pictures of Class 8 backed into a supermarket parking lot between the lines one space. I see that 20% of the issue is size and 80% is perception of the size. I back into most parking spaces, easier to do, safer when leaving. - 4x4ordExplorer III

It's hard to understand some of you guys. To tender to drive a truck other than for towing. How would you ever have managed when trucks really did ride rough, especially 3/4 and 1T's? My wife has had Caddies and now drives a Buick and doesn't mind the ride in the dually a bit. We take it many times instead of her car and did so even when she had one of the Caddies
I'm happy to use my pick up for all my driving needs but I recognize it does most things poorly. It would be easy to find a vehicle that would be far better in regard to ride, handling, acceleration, economy and aesthetics. When it comes to towing I would rate my truck as excellent.
If you use your truck to do what your Cadillac could do I have to wonder why? hard to understand..
