Sleep under a camper shell instead of truck camper?

I am exploring ideas. I'm not totally discounting possibility of buying a truck camper (or something else), but my main need is for a place to sleep from time to time when on the road. I have 2008 Nis...

One thing that I left out that might not be obvious. If you raise your bed higher than the fender well you effectively have a wider space to work. It's about 6 ft on a full size compared to the 4 feet if you stay between the fender wells.
