The wedge pillow mentioned is the best idea, IMHO. You may have a little trouble finding them, but medical supply should have them on hand....they're used to go under the knees of the patient. Probably not inexpensive because they are a very firm foam, but may be worth it to accomplish what you want. Is there room in the bed area to slide the bed back toward the foot and build/have built something like a headboard that would be sturdy and not damage the blinds - sort of sitting right in front of them? We don't have the curved front, but the little bit that our straight front tilts in makes it a trick not to lean on the shades.
