Small cut in TPO roof

I was washing and inspecting the roof of my trailer today and noticed the aluminum ladder I was using caused a small cut in the rounded edge of the roof, maybe 1/2" long. I'm not sure it is all the way through, but I don't want to take any chances. Is there a recommended type of caulking or sealant I could use to patch this with to make sure it doesn't leak or get worse?

Note to self, DO NOT PUT LADDER ON EDGE OF ROOF!!!!

After it was too late, I wrapped the end of the ladder with a piece of carpet.
  • I wouldalso use eternabond, it will also protect against further rubbing.
  • Thanks for the replies. I ended up getting a small tube of Loctite GO2 Gel. I looked at the 3M 5200, but all they had was a large tube, in white (roof is tan), for $15. As small as the cut is I thought I would try this and monitor.
  • for something that minor, I think I would use a 3M sealant, 5200 perhaps.

  • Neither TPO or EPDM are rubber, they are synthetics. No latex rubber.
Proflex lap sealant, Eternabond tape or Dicor will work just fine.
  • Eternabond and forget about it. It'll stick to anything except silicone and won't becoming off till a new roof is needed/the unit is s****ped.

Obviously you didn't read the thread title - the OP's trailer has a TPO (vinyl) roof not an EPDM (rubber) roof. He could use Eternabond for the repair but a cut that small I'd just seal with clear Proflex lap sealant.
