I carry 130 lb generator on my front hitch and although I can't tell the truck handles better with it, it is not driving worse.
My 12' camper has COG behind rear axle, so load on front theoretically suppose to help.
The only problem with front platforms is that they like to scoop driveway when crossing the ditch, but that is something you can control.
I like practicality of such box, even the lights are probably not DOT legal (?).
But frankly I would hesitate to cut nice box for the pan. It does not look too good, you loose flat deck for potential use and chances are that in couple of years you will buy new, smaller generator and whole thing will loose the purpose.
