He's 92 for God's sake. Not an excuse by any means, but a huge difference between you 50, 60, 70, etc somethings and 90+. Count your blessings, pay one forward, patch the **** thing and go have a drink with him.

Lots of information missing in the original post. Had a neighbor who thought it would be fun one night for him and his drunken friend to blast my boat with paint guns. Got all indigent when I asked him to clean it. If it had been the same type of thing, I stand by my original reply. Even now, a 90 yo shooting a camper with a BB or any type of gun needs to be addressed in some manner.

You kind of get along, he didn't intend to do it, the man is 92 years old.....yeh, shake your head, laugh, let it go. I got to know though, what was he doing to unintentionally shoot your camper ..lol.

I am so glad you decided to go that direction , you are better for it .

For repair I second the gel coat or some resin . If you don't have to deal with paint because it will be covered it's probably a 20 min job .

I repaired gelcoat on my boat before. I don't know much, but I'm curious why no-one is suggesting the $10 colored gel coat kits off of amazon or ebay?

If the awning is going over it, you can sand the gel coat flush and then cover.

is the awning going to be installed directly over this hole/patch or by over does the OP mean that it will be shaded by the awning? If installed over the hole/patch the potential for water intrusion will be the only issue, not cosmetic.

All his boys are military or retired military. Believe me, there's nothing but integrity among them. We share the same, general, worldview on life and politics. We get along great. The bb gun was just an isolated mishap and I'm treating as that. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Good on you sir. That generation was and IS the greatest! My great uncle lays at rest in the USS Arizona, his brother was a Seabee (my grandfather on dads side) my mothers dad was a Marine and I was US Navy. Buy that man a drink and continue on as your doing just fine.

This is what I would do. Do you really want to start a fight with your neighbor. Let alone a 92 year old one. Would it really feel good to win a fight with a 92 year old. What if it was your dad?

What would you want his neighbor to do. It looks like an easy fix, from what you said. Good luck with whatever you do.
