I would consider the X type support for TC storage. When loading the TC on the truck, they come apart and store flat on the bed of the truck, on top of the 4x4s.
My preference is to store my TC as close to the bed height as I can to minimize raising and lowering the TC loading or unloading.
My thought process with mounting the 4x4s to the bottom is there are 1" x 7/8 strips on there now and two of them are missing and I have the issue with getting the wing to clear the top of the bed rail. Since I need to replace the two missing strips I thought Id kill two birds with one stone. Are you worried about the extra weight pulling on the bottom of the camper as that was a small concern of mine as well. A wet PT 4x4 has to weight 40lbs x 4
