I ran accross one of my college students from the early 1990s... she was telling me that she and her husband had bought a large MH to tour North America.... they had made one large loop, returned to Knoxville.
The next year they drove doen to McAllen, TX, set up om doggy row and stayed all winter... drove home again in April
The following year they decided that they were going back to the same exact spot in the same camp ground in McAllen.
In the spring they returned to Knoxville... never altering their path as much as a mile.
After about 5 years of this mindless back and forth driving they finally passed their RV IQ test (mind you, she had been one of my smartest students)
They realized that Doggy Row was their now and their future.... They parked the MH on blocks in the campground for year around fees... they drove what had been their pull behind vehicle back to Knoxville for the summer...
In the fall they bought airplane tickets... flew back to their MH... the extreme heat and age was taking a toll on their MH.... they ordered up a "park model" and put it in place of the MH on Doggy Row at the back of the (RV) trailer park.
She was proud of their park model and sent me and Janet a note telling us how great the park models are... not a care in the world on Doggy Row.
She said... They had a flag pole, a 12" property line fence, potted plants, a supply fo grocer bags and a pooper scooper, and a sign so that the curious neighbors will know who they are as they make circles through the RV Resort seveal times a day.
We proudly replied that we had a Park Model Lance 1161 truck camper
We admitted that we had parked it all over North America... we just parked and went to bed whereever we are.... but of course it has never been on Doggy Row, or even parked in a campground.
Our Lance 1161 has been "parked" a total of 1241 nights in 48 states... and most of Canada... that was it's count in May of 2015.
We started parking in 1962.... and we still enjoy every minute of it!
Parking in a truck camper is really special... you, like us can do it anywhere.
Janet and I hope to do a little "parking" again this fall... but for sure in the spring of 2016.
