I have seen the concerns about heat build up; we leave ours as recommended half screen/half shade during daytime hours.
Has anyone tried automotive tint?
I considered this but am not entirely sure this will effectively minimize heat.
If you have experience either on a hatch or a car window; what do you say? Is tinting effective in keeping thingscool on the interior?

Not sure how tinting would work over a domed surface. Maybe if there's a shrink to fit type plastic tint? Still, for it to be dark enough to cut the heat I think I'd miss looking at the stars at night.
I went a couple years with the shield 50/50 but one summer day I went out to open the vent and the latch handles were too hot to touch. I checked with an IR thermometer and they were around 170*F, even the screen side. Since then I put in the windshield sunscreen using the bar to hold it in place. It blocks a lot of the sun but it still traps the heat inside between the reflector and dome. That's why I would like a cover on the outside to use while the camper is not in use. Probably end up making something. If/when I do, I'll post the results.
Apologies for the thread hijack.
