I'm inclined to agree with Rex. The hatch can be latched in 2 positions. One tightly sealed and the other with the dome open about half an inch. I do believe had I not driven off with the hatch in the vent position I'd still be wondering why so many complain about the latches breaking. As has been mentioned, there are ways to tuck something inside the dome that significantly reduces the heat buildup inside the camper. An outside cover for use in storage would be nice, but I wouldn't call it a necessity.
As I said before, if I had it to do over again, I think I'd get the Heki. I's nice sleeping under the stars in a comfortable bed.
