I take mine off and stay on the stands, partially lowered to make it a little less tippy.
The only caveat is watch out for the tanks. After opening up my TC from the bottom to replace a tank leak, I can safely say my model, at least, was not built for supporting full tanks outside the bed of the truck with the TC standing on its own.
Empty tanks first and try not to put much more than a splash or two in them when up on the stands.
