Soften an F350 empty ride

My daughter's family just bought a lightly used 2017 F350 w/6.2L engine. Very low miles and it looks like new ! This vehicle was really overkill as they were looking for an F250 because the trailer they will be towing is under 8,000 lbs (they have been using a 2012 Expedition with no issues). This will give them a a big boost in payload !

However, the empty ride of an F350 is VERY harsh ! And suggestions to improve the empty rid quality without sacrificing too much of the payload ?

Buy a better seat. You want to try a punishing ride, you need to ride in my '97 F350 LB diesel 4x4. I have leaf springs on each end and no give unless loaded. My wife has to wear a sports bra when we go anywhere.

The new trucks with coils rid good IMO.

If you want ride, buy a Cadillac. It's a truck not a luxury car.

The wife HATED riding in it empty.......

What Paul and Jake said. When not towing my F350 rides fine with lower air pressures.
  • I run 45 psi in front and 40 psi in back on my 2500. door says 80 psi! I run 75 psi when towing because I only tow 6K! Rides better!
  • If it has the snow plow package on it the front springs will be stiffer than stock. If so and you're not going to hook a snow plow up to it change the springs out for the stock ones.

Biggest gain for least money will be lower tire pressure. Start with what is on the door post. Many will lower when not towing and go up towing based on an inflation chart.
