Also, I actually do have a question. Have you involved the factory? Called them and insisted they rectify the problems?
Sorry you had all these problems. It surely takes the fun out of camping.
Please lt us know if you acquire any resolution.
Last year, I was involved with both the factory and the dealer. The dealer fixed all the issues, but they also kept it for six weeks of August and September. I think the blame, as beemerphile pointed out, is definitely shared by the dealer.
However, the issue with the roof not opening is really the biggest thing. I can live with lots off the fit and finish issues I've complained about. I never would have brought them up if the whole thing hadn't started with the top not going up.
This time when the roof failed, I emailed both the dealer and the factory, and the factory has been the one dealing with it. The camper just spent the past 2 weeks back at the factory. I've been working with the Columbia Northwest Sales Manager, and I'm not at all impressed. They brought it back to me today with no advance notice, even though he told me that he'd call me before they returned it to make sure all issues were addressed.
And get this: they took off my safety chains and replaced them with shorter ones, so now I can't even tow it unless I don't have chains on. My Jeep has a rear mounted spare, and this camper sits up so high that the spare interfered with the hitch, so I had to get an extension, which meant extending the chains and power cord. The factory, in their infinite wisdom, took off my long chains and replaced them with the original length.
I can understand a lot of flaws. I used to work in auto service, so I know how it goes. But when a pop-up won't "pop-up", there isn't really any way to live with that.
