Speakers to Lights

I will never use my outdoor speakers on the side of my trailer and was thinking about replacing them with lights which I do need. I would want LED of course to keep battery draw low. I wanted to eventually install an LED strip under the awning against the side of the camper but I think I want to try this first. The holes are there and in a good location for lights.

Has anyone done this or have an opinion on this mod?
  • The problem I see with these lights is the fact that they have a black background. That greatly limits the output from the bulbs. If it were me I would paint the area behind the bulb white before I install them. You would double the light output.

Great idea. Thank you for the suggestion. Some type of foil reflective tape might work as well.

Also I've replaced the lens cover screws with stainless steel ones.
  • Should I use something like 3M Scotchlite Reflective Tape for the area behind the bulb or something like Duck Brand 888789 Metallic Colored Duct Tape which is more like a tin foil look?
  • I don't think I would do that. Couple things. You don't want anything metallic in there that might short the light. The lens will direct the light's focus. If after you color the background white you still feel like you need more light then I guess try something more reflective.
