Reason being if one tire looses air the good tire will hold it up off the ground or at least the rim off the ground. With wide spacing wheels one tire goes flat it will go all the way to the ground and do bad things to both the road and the rim. Forget about the tire it long gone. Oh a new 14" aluminum rim from Heartland is $198.50 shipped, plus the $100.00 for the new tire.
I blew three tires on one trip, and my RV is spread axle. No damage to the rims, they were still 5" or more away from the pavement.
I was also still able to use a rhino ramp under the good tire to raise the RV and change the blown tire.
