squirrels under the hood

Had mice get in one time but only squirrels was last year under the RV and on top.
We need a companion for our present Dog. I had thought seriously of a Jack Russel or perhaps a Rat Terrier on leas sleeping under MH.
We have had two cats that liked to sleep under the hood. Dangerous if you forget.
We have two ultrasonic rat repellers in the basement. I don't know that they work but no rats or squirrels so far.
Things that stink except skunks don't seem to affect wildlife like it does us. The Cab Fresh if you have it inside a garage might be worthy of consideration.

I looked at a used rv and the guy had the hood open and when I asked why, he said he keeps it open when parked to keep critters out and puts moth balls in cups around the engine. Said the hood up and moth balls keep out the ground squirrels/mice and quail who like the darkness to camp out in.

Dont know if it works, but that is hopw he said he keeps control. Another would be to keep some cats outside by the rv, they like to eat rats and what are squirrels but tree living rats.

Lessmore, He hasn't seen any more of the critters for about 2 years now. Think
they may have liked the country living more than the city living.

Moth balls under the hood.Use them on the show car.Zip tie a soup can with the moth balls in it somewhere away from any major heat source. And any cabin air intakes.

I am hoping ultrasonics plus critter spray works for me.

Spray I get at Menards supposed to repel squirrels. Has a strong cinnamon smell to it.

Little buggers got up under the hood of my 2011 Ford diesel and chewed up the plastic fuel line going into the filter on top of the engine. Started the truck and OMG, diesel spraying all over the place. Mess. They also got a neighbors truck across the street from me.

No way to blast them inside town, so hope the spray/sound deterrents work.

Ultrasonics works for us, and has for about 25 years with no problems. Only issue is putting transmitter under front of car (or TT) and powering it.

For a moment I thought maybe this was the sequel to "Snakes On a Plane". ;)

I've heard Bounce Dryer Sheets work. I guess zip tie 'em under the hood somewhere. That Critter Ritter certainly sounds like it's worth a try.
It may be more humane to go ahead and shoot squirrels. A little egg, some pepper, flower and fried, they're pretty tasty. Squirrels are territorial. Moving them to another's territory only causes problems elsewhere, too. Fights and lack of food to sustain both the new and existing population is a sad way to go. Ask your local County Animal Shelter about euthanasia if you gotta trap one. Sometimes, they'll loan you a trap, you bring it back with a critter and it's done, so to speak.
Do what you gotta do. I kinda feel like trying to erradicate squirrels is spittin' in the wind. Localized deterrent treatment seems more reasonable. However, there are the occasional home invaders that may require "re-assignment".
