Stable loads and airbags?

I love my setup with airbags.--- level and fairly easy to travel without harsh anything. But, Im running up against the airbags max of 5000lbs. Getting ready to do 3 weeks in June, and wondering if I should throw on a pair of stable loads just in case I have a bag failure.

Can you see a combination of the two beneficial for all the time vs when an airbag may fail?

Thoughts?

  • I think the Stable Loads and air bags will work well together. The Stable Loads will support some to all of the weight, depending on the psi of your bags. I also think the Stable Loads will carry the weight of your TC if the bags were to fail. The truck might squat a bit more, but not enough to be an issue.

I have Stable Loads on my 2004 DRW with a 4,000 lb TC. All they do is shorten the travel distance the upper overload before the overload makes contact. With the Stable Loads the rear of the truck squats about 3-inches.

I recently bought airbags that I have yet to install. I expect they will raise the rear back to its normal height. I will have to experiment as to just how much load the airbags will carry.
