Stableloads

Curious if anyone has installed lower Stableloads on a Ram 3500 SRW, and how many wedges did you use?

I have a 2016 3500 long bed dually and used three in front and back, can't say it rides any different empty whether engaged or disengaged... Does a great job when loaded!!
  • With three wedge plates front and rear plus the upper StableLoads, I did not need airbags to carry my 4000 lb TC. The airbags were only for the additional tongue weight put on by 8000 lb enclosed trailer.
  • 2014 Ram 3500 SRW, got all 3 wedges with airbags blown up. No air bags and I could get 2.

I am actually selling the stableloads, as I don't notice enough of a difference with our 4k camper in the shortbed. If anyone is interested PM me
  • You get 4 pieces which is enough for the rear axle which is the only place they go. Installing is very simple and should only needs basic hand tools.
  • I have a set on order. Does a set include 4-one for each tire? I thought they only went on the rear, so assumed there would be 2.

My problem is that I can't find anybody to install them, most places haven't even heard of Stable Loads.
  • I'm hauling a 2,400 camper on a 2015 and got a set of lower stable loads. Went to install and they wouldn't fit. So before I modified them or returned them to TorkLift, I did a test by using a 3/4" piece of plywood taped in position. After 500 miles, the tape had started ripping so I removed them. However, the distance was enough to show they didn't help enough to worry about using them. However, with a heavier camper, I'm sure the benefit would be greater and make them worth the effort if you used all 3 wedges. The trick to make them easier to install is to drive the opposite rear wheel up on a ramp to open the spring pack.
  • Yes
I'm using 4 front and 4 back. It helps a lot with the weight but I have to jack the rear up to engage/disengage them.
I'm going to drop to 3 to be able to engage w/o jacking the rear.
For installation, the trick to get the long bolt through the hole in the spring is to use a floor jack under the leaf spring mount and jack it up there, you will be able to easily drop the bolt through.
  • Well got 3 in the front and 2 in the rear, can't say it rides much difference empty
  • My chevy I used two all the way around. I know that is not what you asked but at first I was like **** I can't get any in that space. You may all ready know when you go to install you need to lift the box up to make space. When I install mine before loading the truck camper I lift the box at the hitch and crank them in. Works great. People talk about keeping them greased and maybe that is a good idea to keep the rust off, but the main thing is to lift the box when engaging them. JMHO
