Did a search for standing on slide out and came up with nothing so here goes. I would like to use my 8 Foot step ladder to help me get on the roof of my Travel Trailer. My plan is to step on the slide out from the ladder then climb up on the roof. Is my 220 lbs going to mess up the slide out if I step on to it when it is all the way out to get on the roof??

I have never tried it, but the slidout carries the weight of several people at times when there are people on the sofa and or the dining area. So it most likely wouldn't hurt as long as it was near the wall. I would never try it in the middle. JMO

I have been on our slides but I haven't danced up there.

That seems like a question for the mfg. of your RVLINKPersonally.......I would get a taller appropriate ladder.One should never use top rung as a step.....ladder should be higher than object for personal safety and ladder stability.There is a name for those that attempt short cuts/cutting corners when it comes to proper use of equipment.........Injured :B

Not an answer but I wonder if the slide roof is as strong as the main roof. Seems to me that going on the main roof directly is a better way.

It's difficult to install/maintain solar sans getting on the roof. But that wouldn't be on the slide.

DW is a senior manager at our worker's compensation board. People fall off ladders all the time and can end up as paraplegics or quadriplegics. People have even died from falling off just a 4' stepladder. The extent of injuries depends on how you fall and how you hit your head on the ground. You do not want to end up like Christopher Reeve.

I fell off a lightweight aluminum 6' stepladder 20+ years ago and I still have pain from it and affects my sleep.

There is a spike in ladder injuries this time of year with homeowners putting up Xmas lights because they weren't paying attention, not using the right ladder, not using it correctly or doing something they shouldn't be like reaching way out to one side.

Do it right or not at all. It's just not worth the risk.

Another NO vote. The weight of the items built into the slide and it's strength likely does not carry over to the roof. There is not much up there and I think it would not be a good idea.

I don't think I would do that. Mine has a spring loaded roof cover on top of it anyway... As small as that roof area is surely you can find a way not to have to step up on the slide out roof...

I have the roof ladder on the end of my 5th wheel to get on the trailer roof and I have used the area between the slide and the rear of the trailer for a ladder support to work on the slide canves cover that really has never worked right from day one. Mine never draws up tight and flaps around when the wind blows...

No way I would put that much weight on 1.5" of Styrofoam and 3/8s" of luan paneling.

Maybe try and find out who made the boxes and ask them. That is what I did and walking on them wasn't mentioned as a good idea.

The slide out floor is supported by the RV's main floor. The slide out roof is not. I say no way!

There have been several post here about sagging slide roofs. My thought would be that it is not a good idea.
