- GoFishExplorerI have been working through controlling the entry of rain and wash water to the compartments, since I had several leaking entry points.
Camping World sells an adhesive backed white vinyl gutter that I inverted and use as a small awning over the vent area. It works well for the battery compartments and the propane compartment, but is too small for the generator compartment, if you have the same expanded metal mesh there.
Along with the vinyl "awning", I replaced the door gasket with closed cell adhesive backed weatherstrip. That job may have to be done every couple of years or so because if it deteriorates, the doors WILL leak.
Inside of the compartments, I ran a thick bead of the best silicone sealer that I could find around the inside of the bottom of the door frame where it meets the plastic box portion. That is to keep any water that gets into the compartment, in the compartment, and not leaking further into the camper.
And, as a last line of defense, I put a rolled up rag just inside the door laying on the bottom of the compartment. That way, if water does somehow still get into the box, the rag will be wet and I can wring it out and then check for the cause. - luv2skyskiExplorerVent cover mod.
I had the same issue. Not so much standing water but always damp/wet.
Happy camping, Dave. - 54sudsExplorer
- K_MacExplorerNot only my battery, but also my Generator, and propane compartment. I have a 2013 - 10-2 cd se. Glad you brought this up,curious as to what solutions we'll hear others have done to prevent this from happening. Thanks.
- pjay9ExplorerYou need to get a chair for it so it doesn't get tired standing! SOORRRRYYYY!!! Just had to do it! THX for providing me a chuckle today!
Hope you figure it out, pls post your findings. And be careful cleaning water out it could be acidic. - RoyBExplorer IIAnytime I see water standing around my batteries it raises a big RED FLAG that my batteries may be boiling out fluids... Be sure to check the fluids in those batteries in that compartment...
Check the status of the batteries as well... A fully charged 12V battery should read 12.6-7VDC when not on shore power... One may have a shorted cell which is causing the fluids to boil out when trying to be charged by the converter/charger...
Hopefully you just have a drainage problem like you indicated...
