Staying in RV parks with truck campers

Obviously, the advantage of truck campers is boondocking and getting away from it all. But I also want to use one for doing a couple months of seasonal work, in which case I would need to stay at an RV park. What do you do in this case: take the camper off the truck and leave it there while you go to work, so that nobody takes your spot?

  • There are some RV parks that won't let you take your camper off the truck, as I learned in Boise Idaho. Not really a big deal as I kept mine on most of the time anyway.
  • I agree with the other posters, I have taken mine off in a campground before to use the truck by its self. If you are in a private campground they better not put someone in your spot as you have paid for it and it is yours.

One thing about taking it with you when it comes lunch time you could always go out to your camper and have a nice lunch and take a quick nap. :B Probably better eating your lunch in the camper as you would most likely eat a better meal than fast food joints.
  • The RV park won't let anyone take your spot while you are away. Just take the whole rig with you.
  • If I was going to stay at a RV Park for a couple of months and be working a job for a couple of months, I would most certainly be inclined to take the camper off. Why wouldn't you? But as TC Life said if you spot is paid no one would take it anyway. Now on the other hand if you were at a state park with no hookups, where you would need to dump frequently then I could see your problem.

  • I,d talk to the manager ,and follow his advice, it would,nt bother me to stay in a park,I,d take the camper off .
  • If you are in a rv park wouldn't you have paid for the spot already and the office would know its occupied? No matter if the camper is there or not? Maybe I miss understood your post.

As far as going to rv parks...we go to them sometimes and we boondock other times. That's a great thing about tc...pretty much go where ever you want.

Just be advised...I've heard some Rv parks don't let you take the camper off at the resort.
