Congtrats!!! You bought a great TC there. The issues that you hear about AF having problems are all "old news". Some just like beating a dead horse. All manufacturers have gone thru growing pains and problems. The main thing is AF addressed them and today build a great TC. Enjoy it and have fun.
We looked at both Lance and Arctic Fox and when they were both at the Pleasanton RV show in January I had a long talk with Doug from Northwoods Mfg about some of the issues I've seen mentioned on this forum. I was happy with his responses. The other TC we were considering was the Lance 992, but in the end we were more comfortable with having just 1 slide for our intended use. We also had a specific budget to hit and it's unlikely we could have stayed within it unless we went to a much older Lance.
You made a smart move. We bought our 2010 AF 1140 back in 2010. We immediately left on our first trip to Alaska. On our way back we stopped in La Grande and toured the Northwood factory. While out on our trip we experienced one small issue and we allowed the factory to repair it while we were doing the tour. Taking the tour we were able to see up close how the frames and bellies of the AF TCs are made. I watched those guys as they placed full welds at the joints. When I hear the rants from other TC owners how they try to degrade the AF construction methods I just laugh it off. I know better. I saw how they are made. At the end of the tour the shop foreman met with the group to answer any questions. During the discussion, he admitted that Northwood had some issues in the past but they have been addressed. No way can you compare a newer AF to a 2005 model. This is our 4th new RV and its been the best built and most trouble free unit that we've owned. Thats comparing it to two very expensive Holiday Rambler motorhomes, and a Winnebago Rialta.
