My last TT purchase arrived in 35 days. Don't put to much into that "Built by the Amish" business. RV's are built on a production line by workers who get paid by how many "pieces" they complete each day. It is not conducive to quality work. The mental image of devout, bearded men diligently working on your TT with great care is a fantasy.
Agree 1000%. Both my RVs so far were touted as being built by Amish workforce and both have many issues when it comes to finish. I am not here to knock the Amish craftsmen, but fla-gypsy's point that production line work done by humans getting paid based on throughput is right on the money. Perhaps if these same workers were allowed to build the RVs aside from a production line the quality of finish would improve.
To the OP's point - I was told earlier on this year that my RV would be started at the start of August and would be completed by mid August then it would be shipped to Atlanta after that. So I expected to have to drive to Atlanta at the end of August to pick it up. As it turned out I got a call from the dealership I believe on August 8th to say that it was at the dealership and when could I come to pick it up! And it was the same RV since I had the VIN number ever since I put arranged the deposit on it in late July (I believe). Since I could not get away until the end of August anyway I asked them to hold on to it (and not let anyone walk though it if possible :)). We eventually picked it up on August 28th. So for me the wait was amazingly short so much so I was in a rush to sell the other trailer, which I preferred to do before buying the new one (needed cash for the downpayment).
