UPDATE
The truck was restored to its prior condition which enabled me to drive it, with the camper on board, to Lancaster, CA and the Lance factory service dept where it was unloaded to await a decision from the insurance company. Photos of the damage and missing parts area were sent and based on those, and Lance's estimate of restoration costs, the insurance company decided to consider it a total loss. I was very unhappy to say the least.
They hired a company to give a replacement cost figure and another company to give a salvage value figure. My choice was to take a check for the replacement cost and let the insurance company have it or take a check for the replacment cost less the salvage value and keep the camper myself. Even though the restoration estimate was below that figure they did not want to take the chance that Lance would find additional items to repair and their costs would be higher. There was enough slack in those figures and the fact that I was confident that Lance knew pretty well what it would cost to restore it, that I opted to keep the camper.
It is now in the capable hands of Mike Williams, Lances' service mananger who expects it to be finished in about 5 weeks. Looks like I can still get some horse camping in this summer.
All in all I feel the insurance company, Liberty Mutul, was fair and responsible and I am confident that Lance will restore my camper to its previous pristine condition.
