Years ago my buddy, his girlfriend, and his daughter and my daughter were leaving on vacation with our truck campers, towing boats. We stopped for gas in town, during the morning commute. With my truck and boat I was basically blocking a whole island, and I was putting 40 gallons in the truck, and 6 in the gas can for the boat so it took a while. Looking at the line, I thought it would be nice if once I was done I pulled out of the way, freeing up about 3 pumps. Apparently there was a new employee pretty much by herself. As I pulled away from the pumps (according to my daughter and buddy's girl friend) the clerk starting shouting, "that guy is driving off without paying !!!!!" Despite the fact my daughter was going, "no, that's my dad, he'd never leave here", and my buddy's girlfreind saying, "ah, I this is his daughter, he's moving his rig so about 3 people can pump gas while he comes in to pay.", the clerk panicked and hit the clear button the the pumps. When I came in to pay, the manager was extremely disappointed I was actually there to pay, because it involved them doing some manual calculations since they'd cleard the pump. Ever since then, I just try to evaluate my exit strategy before committing, and don't worry about blocking pumps. Do watch the overhead clearance though
