Storage

I am on the hunt for ideas for storing along the back window on the inside of the truck. We do not take the camper off the truck so this could be used often, as in my husband's lightweight golf bag or stand alone hammock. Possibly a gun rack to tie to with bungy cords? Has anyone been creative out there? Thanks in advance.

  • Thanks for all the great suggestions. I was looking to cover the back window as we tend to pile up and the wood crate is on the bottom....well, it is a topic we suggest whenever we run across other truck campers. Makes for a good conversation!
  • What about building a MOLLE storage system? Like the military and police use. Google "MOLLE storage system for trucks". This has more customizable options than duffel bags - unless you wanted large-type storage for bag chairs etc.

I like the back of the seat MOLLE systems.
  • I've given some thought to the gun rack idea and think 2 army duffel bags could be hung by the bag strap on the gun rack hooks. Some of the army/navy surplus stores have rather big bags that would translate to a lot of storage volume.
  • We more times than not, have a friend riding in the back seat. The camper itself is where the phd exists. Inside of the camper is pretty packed until we arrive at our destination.
  • Those are great ideas for storage systems, but I think the OP is looking for something to allow her to store things up in the WINDOW area. She did mention "gun rack."

It is a rather novel idea if you ask me. The rear window in the cab is pretty much useless with the camper loaded. Blocking it would not be an issue.

Frankly, I think most people just work on their PHD (Pile it Higher and Deeper).

Does anybody actually use the back seats of their trucks to carry PEOPLE?
  • Thanks for the post, Patty. Also, thanks for the links that several of you submitted. The DU-HA under seat truck storage and organizer is just what I'm looking for. I'll be getting in touch with those folks shortly to see about one of those for my Chevy Silverado.
  • Thanks for all the Links everyone. I was thinking the same as the OP, some kind of extra storage.
    Thanks OP for the post.

  • With our Supercab we take the back of the seat out and then flip up the seats. That gives us just enough room to store our high back lounging chairs behind the seats, and lots of room in front of the turned up seats.
