I feel your pain, almost. My 03 was starting to have problems under load. The turbo, instead of being constant, was starting to surge. Then I starting hearing and unusual sound from engine compartment and losing power. I lacked faith the vehicle would get me home whenever I took it out before these problems. I foresaw costly repairs in my future so I sold the truck. Currently looking for a new tow vehicle. Although, since I don't need a truck I was looking at the Chevy Sierra or Nissan NVP. Hopefully you can determine the best course of action.
Watch out for the Nissan NVP. My brother purchased a 2013 in December. He has less than 250 miles on the truck but has had under warranty the transmission replaced, would not go into reverse, one of the computers replaced a week later and now back in the shop with injector issues. He loves the space, it is his work van, but is now getting with Nissan about a buy back. This was to be his tow vehicle for his new tt also. Hope he gets it worked out.
