Perhaps the location has a health spa, mineral springs or pool and you want to use their amenities, maybe the resort is close to a popular location that saves you from paying large hotel bills, or you are social and like to mix with different crowds instead of just a particular demographic...
For us, variety makes life interesting and we make friends whether they are sleeping in a hotel, tent or diesel pusher. We may dry camp in the desert or on the coast, stay in a gated manicured resort with full hookups and extra services, or camp in a casino or store parking lot.
